Rumors

If you have any questions about Queer Eye or the Fab Five, or you are looking for info on a rumor, e-mail.

#1a Why was Jai replaced by some black guy for two episodes?
That was the first culture guy, Blair. Scout decided to let Blair go after he'd filmed two episodes because they felt his screen presence was not right for the show (by all accounts he got along fine with the rest of the Fab Five). Scout started auditioning replacements and found Jai. Because the episodes were shown out of order, the first episode aired was the fourth shot (with Jai), followed by the first two episodes shot (with Blair).

#1b Is it true Blair was a stand in for Jai because Jai couldn't start filming right away?
Not true. Blair was hired. And fired. Jai did not audition for the show until after filming began, and started work only a few days after his audition.

#1c What's up with the lawsuit?
Blair signed a contract to shoot one full season of Queer Eye, leaving his regular job to do so. When he was fired, he was paid for only the two episodes he had shot ($6,000). He sued Queer Eye LLC for $105,000, the amount he would have earned for the full season. The suit was settled out of court.

#1 Are they friends? Do any of them hate each other?
They all get along well and are friends.

#2 Is it true Carson and Thom really hate each other?
Not true. The rumor came from a Star Magazine piece about them avoiding each other in a restaurant. Thom explained he went to a restaurant where, coincidentally, Carson was eating. Because Carson was on a date, Thom didn't join him.

#3 Have any of the Fab Five dated?
No. They all say they're "like brothers."

#4 So, Kyan's dating that hot guy from Queer as Folk, right?
Nope. Kyan and Robert Gant met at a Vanity Fair shoot in 2003 and "hit it off." They were photographed the next night at a party holding hands, which garnered a lot of media attention. But according to both they were never a couple, just went on a date or two.

#5 So, who are they dating?
Ted lives with his partner of many years, Barry Rice, a ex journalism professor turned interior decorator
Thom has been with his partner, publicist Greg Calejo, since 2004.
