Tszuj-It! -- A Fab Five Fansite

Us Weekly, 8/2003

QEFTSG's Carson and Kyan

"Behind every stylin' guy are fabulous gay men," swears stylist Carson Kressley, 33, of Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (which airs Tuesdays at 10pm and also aired July 24 on NBC). Kressley and grooming guru Kyan Douglas, 33, of the team that prettifies schlubs (one victim, Adam Zalta, 35, below) with pedicures, wax and more, gives Us the straight story.

Why do you think straight guys have no style?
Carson: Bad taste does not discriminate, but gay guys have a different perspective. Growing up, I was not good at sports or manly things, so I was interested in art and fashion. It's all about an eye for details.

What makes a good candidate for the show? Carson: Bad underwear. Unflattering, old, worn-out, Normal Lear Three's Company boxer shorts? So not cute.

Do all five of you always agree with each other's advice?
Carson: No, but if anyone questions my taste, I shut them down like a bad Ferris wheel.

Do you really perform those massive makeovers in one day?
Kyan: We shoot episodes in three days. On day for the de-straightening. Then, we take him shopping. On the third day, it's his final lesson.

What's your verdict on Adam today?
Carson: He's wearing lavendar and linen!
Kyan: He still has two eyebrows!
