Tszuj-It! -- A Fab Five Fansite

Entertainment Tonight, 8/18/2003

Maria Meets the "Queer Eye" Guys!

Maria Menounos visited the Fab Five from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" as they vamped it up for an Out magazine photo shoot in Hollywood! So did the feisty five pack give Maria their fashion "stamp of approval"? Read on for the designer dish, as Kyan Douglas, Ted Allen, Carson Kressley, Jai Rodriguez and Thom Filicia discuss style -- and even suggest a makeover for Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Maria: All right, you guys. Are you having fun doing this?
Kyan: We have an amazing time.
Carson: We get paid to go shopping, tszuj people all day and get to be on TV.
Thom: An incredible budget for shopping for furniture -- good times!

Maria: You guys are like a phenomenon. What is this like for you?
Kyan: It's like we're doing a great deed, you know.

Maria: Are you guys tired, because this is, like, insane?
Thom: I haven't slept for what, three months? Whatever.
Carson: But it's keeping him thin and gorgeous, so hey!

Maria: Are people stopping you on the streets to beg, "Please help me?"
Carson: Yes, and there's 30 million straight people to go yet!

Maria: So, celebrity makeovers...
Ted: Arnold Schwarzenegger. He's really getting soft!
Maria: Yes, he's a handsome man. What do you guys think you can do with Arnold?
Ted: First of all, Arnold's clothes are severe and Republican. It's not fun...
Thom: He's a Liberal-publican. That's not so bad!
Jai: I think Arnold needs an update. I think if he wants to run for governor...
Thom: He needs to embrace the California spirit.
Carson: Maybe some flip-flops, some drawstring pants ...

Maria: How do you do you do all of this? I mean, you guys fully take over and it looks like it takes one day. How long does it really take?
Kyan: A lot of magic fairy dust!
Carson: About three and a half months.
Maria: No way.
Carson: It takes about three days. We do have a crew, a very small crew, that helps.
Jai: I love them too. No, we all have a lot. This is all a group effort and I think the best part about the show is that we each sort of balance out each other. We have departments and it all works together as a whole to make a really great end product.
Maria: Who does the kitchens? Because I've seen some nasty, nasty kitchens.
Jai: Thom does.
Maria: You actually do the dishes and everything?
Thom: No -- I work hand-in-hand with our crew and it's quite an undertaking. But, you know, each project has its challenges, if you will. But it's kind of crazy, we all pull together and make it happen and here we are!
