Kressley, who previously worked as a fashion stylist for Ralph Lauren, says he still does what he always did — help people transform their look — but now he can buy better shoes and ''I know Cher.'' Kressley who became a breakout star on the ensemble show which also stars Jai Rodriguez, Kyan Douglas, Ted Allen and Thom Filcia, promises the same madcap make-overs but with a new twist. Shortening the show's name from the original ''Queer Eye For the Straight Guy'' means anyone is fair game — even gay men or women. ''It's not just for straight guys anymore,'' he says. The first three episodes of the season were filmed in Las Vegas which allowed the Fab Five to cavort with Chippendales, model showgirl frippery and even meet an Elvis-impersonating dog. ''The dog absolutely hated me,'' confides Kressley. On the season opener, Kressley and his fashionista partners help spruce up animal magician Max Clever and his artist wife Joni. For the second episode Kressley says he became a licensed minister and performed a real Las Vegas wedding. Kressley says he will play football in an upcoming episode adding ''now I know why I never played football,'' and he will ''man the pompoms'' when Filicia takes part in a triathalon. The sharp-witted Kressley says he just tries to ''be myself and hopefully editors will take out anything too obnoxious.'' He says 80 hours of footage are trimmed to an hourlong show. Shooting has begun for the fifth season of ''Queer Eye,'' according to Kressley and the show's 100th episode should arrive in the fall. ''We're doing a big reunion of the top 25 for the 100th episode,'' Kressley says. ''There will be lots of laughing, crying and nose-hair clipping. We're delighted to have been on air this long.'' The fashion maven also is thrilled to be launching his own brand of men's and women's clothing in the fall. ''Fashion is my first love,'' says the 1987 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School. Kressley is also an author. In 2005, he released his children's book ''You're Different and That's Super.'' In 2004, he released wrote ''Off The Cuff: The Essential Style Guide for Men and the Women Who Love Them.'' An avid philanthropist, Kressley founded the Rainbow Scholarship Award, which will be given to a gay student at Allentown's Pride in the Park festival at Cedar Beach June 17. Kressley says he will not be able to attend. ''It's exciting to help out in the community,'' Kressley says. ''I'm glad I can make a difference for other people like me.'' |
